Privacy policy

Last updated: October 2, 2026

Salt Milano Inc. ("SALT Milano," "we," "us," or "our") operates saltmilano.com. This policy explains how personal information is collected, used and disclosed when you browse our store, place an order, create an account, subscribe to emails or contact us. Personal information means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you.

For privacy questions or requests, contact info@saltmilano.com. SALT Milano is based in the United States and is responsible for the personal information we process for our business purposes. Shopify may also be independently responsible for information it processes for its own services, as explained below.

1. Information we collect

The information collected depends on how you use our store:

  • Contact and order information: your name, email, phone number where provided, billing and delivery addresses, products ordered, order history, returns and refund information.
  • Account information: information used to identify and authenticate your customer account, together with your preferences and settings. The details collected depend on the account and sign-in features you use.
  • Payment information: payment details submitted to our payment providers, along with transaction status, payment confirmations and information needed to process refunds. Shopify Payments and Shop Pay process payment information when you use those services. Our access to payment details depends on the payment service; placing an order does not mean we receive or store your full card details.
  • Customer communications: the information you choose to send us by email, contact form or customer support tools.
  • Device and browsing information: your IP address, browser and device details, identifiers, pages and products viewed, cart activity, referring pages and interactions with the store.
  • Marketing preferences and interactions: subscription choices and, where enabled and permitted, information about interaction with our emails and advertising, such as clicks and purchases.

We receive information directly from you, automatically through the store and tracking technologies, and from providers that help us operate the store, process payments, deliver orders, manage communications or measure advertising.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Accept and fulfil orders, process payments, arrange delivery, handle returns and refunds, and send order updates.
  • Maintain customer accounts and shopping preferences where you use these features.
  • Respond to questions and provide customer support.
  • Keep the store working, troubleshoot problems and understand how customers use it.
  • Detect fraud, protect accounts and investigate misuse or security incidents.
  • Send newsletters and promotional emails when you subscribe, subject to applicable consent requirements.
  • Measure advertising and, where enabled and permitted by your choices and applicable law, personalize advertising on our store or other services.
  • Maintain relevant business records, comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.

An order notification or support response is different from a marketing subscription. You can unsubscribe from promotional emails without stopping necessary messages about an order or privacy request.

3. Providers and other disclosures

We disclose relevant information to providers that support the purposes described above:

  • Shopify: store hosting, customer accounts, checkout, store operation and related services.
  • Shopify Payments and Shop Pay: payment processing, accelerated checkout and related fraud prevention when these services are used.
  • Delivery and fulfilment providers: including DHL where it handles your shipment, and other providers used for your order.
  • Marketing and measurement services: our store is configured with integrations from Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google (including Google and YouTube services), Mailchimp and Pinterest. Depending on which features are enabled, your interaction with the store and your privacy choices, these services may process contact, transaction, device or browsing information for communications, measurement and advertising.
  • Other operational providers: providers supporting customer service, IT, accounting and related business administration where needed.

We may also disclose information when you direct us to do so, when required by law or valid legal process, to protect rights or investigate fraud, or as part of a business sale, restructuring or similar transaction subject to applicable safeguards.

Disclosures for advertising can fall within legal definitions of "sale," "sharing" or "targeted advertising," even where no money is paid for the information. Applicable choices are described in section 5.

4. Shopify's role

Our store runs on Shopify. Information submitted through the store is processed by Shopify and its providers to support shopping, checkout and other services, including services operated in other countries.

Shopify's enhanced services can use information about interactions with SALT Milano, other merchants and Shopify to support features such as personalization, store improvement and advertising. When Shopify processes information for these purposes, Shopify is responsible for that processing and for applicable requests relating to it. These uses are subject to the relevant privacy choices and applicable law.

Read the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy for details. You can use the Shopify Privacy Portal to learn about or exercise rights relating to Shopify's own processing. Contacting Shopify does not replace a request to SALT Milano about our processing.

5. Cookies, advertising and your choices

Cookies and similar technologies can support the cart, checkout, sign-in, security and preferences. Other technologies support analytics, advertising measurement and personalized advertising. Advertising partners may collect information about activity across different websites or services.

Where consent is required, optional tracking is subject to your choice in the cookie consent controls. Accepting shopping terms or continuing to browse does not by itself give consent to optional tracking. Necessary technologies may remain active to provide services you request.

You can use the store's cookie preferences controls, where available, to change or withdraw choices. You can also manage cookies in your browser, although blocking necessary cookies may affect shopping features.

Where available, use Your Privacy Choices on the store to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. You can also contact info@saltmilano.com about these choices. Opt-out requests and cookie preferences apply to the relevant device, browser or account as supported by the controls and applicable law; you may need to repeat a choice on another device.

Where our Shopify privacy configuration supports it or applicable law requires it, a recognized Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal is treated as an opt-out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. GPC is different from older Do Not Track browser signals. Our Shopify-based controls do not treat older Do Not Track signals as an equivalent opt-out request.

To stop promotional emails, use the unsubscribe link in an email or contact us. We may retain a limited record of your opt-out so we can respect it. Unsubscribing does not automatically delete order records or stop necessary transactional messages.

6. International processing and legal bases

SALT Milano is based in the United States, and Shopify's store data hosting location for our store is the United States. Our providers and personnel may also access or process information in other countries.

Where European, UK or other applicable privacy law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of a contract to fulfil orders and provide requested services; legal obligations for required business records; legitimate interests, where applicable, to protect the store and prevent fraud; and consent for activities that require it. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Shopify describes the safeguards for relevant international processing, including contractual safeguards and arrangements between its entities, in its Data Processing Addendum and international data transfer information. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to processing by SALT Milano under applicable law.

7. Retention and security

We determine retention by the duration of the customer relationship, the status of an order or request, open disputes or claims, applicable recordkeeping obligations and provider settings. In particular:

  • Order, payment and refund records may be retained for relevant accounting, tax, fraud prevention and legal requirements, and to handle disputes.
  • Account and support information may be retained to maintain the requested service and address relevant enquiries, security issues or claims.
  • Marketing information is used while the relevant subscription or permission remains active, with limited suppression records retained where needed to respect opt-outs.
  • Device, usage and advertising information is subject to the applicable service's settings, retention practices, your choices and legal requirements.

A deletion request can be subject to exceptions, including information needed to fulfil an open order, comply with law or establish or defend a legal claim.

Our website uses HTTPS connections, and checkout is provided through Shopify. Shopify describes its security controls in its Data Processing Addendum. No online service can guarantee complete security. Do not send full payment card details, passwords or unnecessary identity documents by email. Keep account access details private and contact us if you suspect misuse.

8. Privacy rights and requests

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access or obtain information about personal information, correct it, request deletion or a portable copy, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. These rights have conditions and legal exceptions.

Send requests to info@saltmilano.com. Tell us what you are requesting and provide enough information to locate the relevant account or order. You do not need to create an account to make a request. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm identity or an authorized representative's authority where needed; please do not send identity documents unless we explain what is needed and how to provide them safely.

We will handle requests within the time required by applicable law and explain any lawful refusal or extension. Where applicable, you may use an authorized representative, appeal a decision by contacting us, and complain to the relevant regulator. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

If European or UK data protection law applies, rights may also include objecting to processing based on legitimate interests, restricting processing and complaining to a supervisory authority. EEA supervisory authorities are listed by the European Data Protection Board.

9. Children and other websites

Our store is designed for adult shoppers. If you believe a child has provided personal information that should not have been collected, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action under applicable law.

Our store may link to services operated by other companies. Their own policies apply to information processed by those services for their purposes. A link does not make their privacy practices the same as SALT Milano's.

10. Updates and contact

We may revise this policy when our practices, services or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised version with an updated effective date and give additional notice or obtain consent where required.
